• Born into a family of craft persons where her grandfather and uncle were known in their village as the birdcage makers
• Mastura Abdul Rahman’s standing as a Malaysian artist began to consolidate when she won the major prize in the Prestigious Malaysian Art Award: The Young Contemporaries Art Award in 1986
• She is currently a senior lecturuer based in Malaysia teaching drawing at the Faculty of Creative Multimedia, Multimedia University in Cyberjaya
• Interested in researching the process of her artistic developments. She began using multimedia in her works in 2000, mixing audio, video and animated photographic pictures in her multimedia installations
