  • Dato’ Tay Hooi Keat was the founding treasurer of the Penang Chinese-Art Club in 1936.
  • Subsequently, from 1964 to 1989, he held the post of Chairman of Penang Museum’s Art Gallery.
  • His art through the years runs a gamut of academic Realism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Cubism and Abstract Expressionism. However, his enthusiasm for art education seems to have eclipsed his love for painting, as he did not exhibit exclusively.
